Ро́берт Э́ллвуд (англ. Robert S. Ellwood; род. 1933, Нормал, Иллинойс, США) — американский историк религии и писатель, профессор религии Южно-Калифорнийского университета (1967—1997), автор более 30 книг, в числе которых популярный учебник по религиоведению «Many Peoples, Many Faiths», книги по истории религии («The Fifties Spiritual Marketplace», «The Sixties Spiritual Awakening» и «Islands of the Dawn»), а также книги, написанные с теософской точки зрения («Finding the Quiet Mind», «The Pilgrim Self», «The Cross and the Grail», «Finding Deep Joy», «Frodo’s Quest»). Эллвуд является членом Американского теософского общества и священником Либеральной католической церкви.

Биография

Роберт Эллвуд родился в 1933 г. городе Нормал, штат Иллинойс, США. В 1967 г. защитил в Чикагском университете докторскую диссертацию по истории религии. Затем служил капелланом в ВМС США. В 1967—1997 гг. был профессором религии в Южно-Калифорнийском университете. С 1997 г. — заслуженный профессор в отставке.

Личная жизнь

Живёт в маленьком городке Оухай в Южной Калифорнии. Имеет двух детей: сына Ричарда и дочь Фэй.
